Picking a Hotel for Disney World

I've been doing Disney World so long I sometimes forget how hard it is for neophytes. Disney World Basics has a great article on deciding where you should stay in Disney World. I personally love the Disney Resorts like the Wilderness Lodge, but those can be hard on a budget. There are plenty of value resorts that are cheaper but still are better than staying off-site if you ask me.

Kouzzina by Cat Cora

I have been hearing about Kouzzina by Cat Cora for a long time, but I never realized she was from Iron Chef. I was pretty stoked to see a Sneak Peek of the Kouzzina Menu on the Disney Food Blog. I've actually been hearing a lot of good things about Spoodles, the restaurant that it's replacing, from people I respect, but having something new open is always exciting. We thought about going to Spoodles several times, but never made it there, maybe Kouzzina will be more exciting.

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

September is a great time to visit Disney World for many reasons. Not the least of which is that they have the Food and Wine Festival, where you can eat and hang out in World Showcase which are two of my favorite things to do. For more information, check out the Food and Wine Details at the Disney Food Blog. Be sure to check out the special events page, which has details on all kinds of great events.

Disney World for Adults

So in case you haven't gleaned it yet, I love Disney World. I've never been to any of the other Disney parks, but the scope of Disney World seems hard to compare to. So I discovered two good articles today:

WDWForGrownups has a great Disney World for Adults article, for people like me.

Also WorthyPosts has a good article Keys to a Great Disney Trip that I would direct anyone going for the first time to.

Living Below Your Means

Living below your means can mean a lot of things. I don't think it's as simply as just saving some portion of your income. Spending everything you earn is not living at your means. Here's an article with more information on living below your means.

Disney Social News

I'm very excited about DisMarks a website for Disney-related social news. While I'm more of a Disney World fan than anything else they cover all the parks, Disneyland, the Cruise Line, general Disney Media and even corporate news. It's a great place to keep up to date on Disney stuff and I hope it takes off.

Josh Howard Drives Me Crazy

For a long time the Dallas Maverick's Josh Howard was my favorite basketball player. He had a huge enthusiasm to play. Back in the days when Nelson was coaching, Howard would try to sneak back in during garbage time just because he liked to play. He peaked in his "All Star" season when he was selected as a replacement. At that point he was a great utility guy. After being designated an "All Star" unfortunately, he decided that meant he was a scorer. So he converted from a very good utilty guy to a okay scorer. It didn't help that this coincided with all his off the court issues. I think it represents a microcosm of my relationship with the Mavericks that Howard has gone from being so fun to watch to just another NBA player.

Personal Finance and Investing

Personal Finance and Investing is a blog that covers the gamut of subjects, from economic policy to debt reduction. It provides a good way to get a general view on economics and personal finance. It can help you start thinking in a more financial state of mind. If you're looking for information on whether the debt snowball is for you, or how to think about the AIG situation, you can get a broad, but focused economic view.

The Disney Food Blog

Disney World freaks (like me) love what we call "food porn." Namely pictures of awesome food and lots of them. The Disney Food Blog provides plenty of stimulation for metaphorical perverts like me. I may never be able to get a reservation at Le Cellier but at least I can look at pictures of what luckier people get to eat. Besides looking at pictures of the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream is considerably healthier than actually eating it.

Worthy Posts

Worthy Posts (http://www.worthyposts.com/), is trying to establish itself as a ultra-high-quality article directory. They tend right now to have a lot of finance and investing articles because their best writers are there and they're trying to establish some authority, but I'm sure eventually they'll get good articles in other areas. I'm a firm believer in article marketing, so I'll be interesting to see how it goes. Because they're focusing so much on quality, it should be a good directory to submit to for syndication purposes.

Crowds at Disney World

StumbleUpon-ed a great article about crowds at Disney World. Most people usually say the same things over and over but this actually had some suggestions I hadn't seen:

Some Solid ETF Advice

I think ETFs are largely revolutionizing the way we invest. There are a lot out there however. Bradley Johnson highlights several that are worth knowing about in his post:

5 ETFs That Can Help Balance Your Portfolio

I think he hits on several pieces of thinking that can help you really think about what diversification means and if you're too "stock centered." Check it out.

Banking With Confidence

I have felt more genuine concern about the state of the world in the past two years than I have in my whole life before that. I had never worried about whether my savings were secure before in my life. I didn't think that bank failures were a possibility and I had no need to have FDIC Insurance explained and personal financial management seemed more about maximizing returns than preventing catastrophe.

If you're looking for information about keeping your money safe, http://www.securesaving.com/ can provide you with considerable insight. You can learn about everything from the government bond market to your basic savings account. Be sure to check it out if you want to feel more confident about your money.

Financial Discussion

Equity Sweat is a great financial forum. The conversation is largely dominated by professionals, but anyone is welcome to participate. They discuss topics ranging from economic policy to specific issues, including stocks and ETFs. The conversation might be a bit dry for some and a bit high level for others, but if you're interested in really understanding finance and investing, Equity Sweat could be a good destination.

Investing First Steps

Many of us often wonder, what is the first step to investing? Obviously the answer differs based on the person involved. There is a big difference between a 30 year old deciding how to start investing in the stock market and a teenager trying to learn about investing money while in college. Ultimately however, the key is actually getting some momentum and taking the first step. Investing First Steps is a resource for those who want to start learning about investing but aren't sure what to do next.

Disney World For Grownups

For a great site about Disney World, check out Walt Disney World For Grownups. They address a lot of Disney issues but with a more adult feel. Their forums are some of the best in the Disney World space. They also have a great series of posts about resort and dining comparisons.
